Paradox of Life

What is life and how should one live life the right way? For some time now I have been thinking about this question with no definite answer. The best answer I have come across is “life is life”, whichever way you think about it as long as you are breathing you are living. It therefore implies that all other things we involve ourselves with in this world is pretty much irrelevant.

When a child is born, he/she has no clue about this world and it is the responsibility of the parents and guardians to raise their kids to live in the right way. As a kid you are not given any choice and everything is decided for you. Think of it like deciding what content to put in your new flash disk.

Were you raised to live the right way? The bible says in proverbs 22:6 “Train a child in the right way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.” So which is the right way and did our parents live the right way? If so, why do we always want to live different lives from what our parents taught us? My opinion is that we are all victims of circumstances just like our parents and many other generations before them. I believe there are many factors which influence the way we are raised. If you were born in a poor family chances are that you will not complete your education, does it mean you have lived the wrong life as opposed to a rich kid who went to the best schools and completed their education?

Perhaps the biggest mistake we all make is trying to fit to a particular group for one reason or another. Many have claimed that life is not a rehearsal, indeed this statement is very practical which implies that no one has lived before and therefore no one knows your tomorrow. I make different choices everyday based on my understanding about the world. Out of these decisions, some are welcomed by others while some are condemned in equal measure. I choose to live my life as I please since in understand my tomorrow is like an invention that this world has never seen before.

One would argue that there is nothing new under the sun and based on experiences of people who have lived before my decisions and actions are subject to criticism therefore, it provides room for me to be judged based on the actions I take. I strongly differ since if it were so then a perfect world would exist.

Picture a classroom where there are 20 students who are taught by the same teacher and yet after an examination there is always the best performed, average and poor performed students. In addition, two individuals may start a similar form of business but their level of success will never be the same unless it’s a partnership. Having said that, I therefore justify that there is no right or wrong decision in life. Every decision in life is based on choices and there will always be consequences for the choices we make in life. We are who we are, and we are defined according to the way we express ourselves to others .These expressions are neither positive nor negative but just a statement reflecting the life in us.

The greatest thing you could achieve is being you. Break out from the shackles of having to be told what to do and stand for what you believe is right for your life. Unless one is mentally ill then your conscious should be your guide to living a life that is the right for you based on your own desires and dreams. You own the power to run your life the way you want to and not based on someone else’s perspective but a true spirit that will always guide you in the right path that you seek.
